Manawa Honey supports local youth programme!
August 01, 2018
The founder of Manawa Honey, the Tūhoe Tuawhenua Trust, recently ran an academy programme for our rangatahi in Ruatāhuna, designed to connect our children to the ngahere (bush/forest) on a range of levels. We believe the ngahere is crucial for the well-being of our young people in all aspects – physically, intellectually and spiritually – and know that this programme develops our young people as future citizens and leaders of Ruatāhuna to look after the ngahere. For the Tuawhenua Trust and for Manawa Honey, the two go hand-in-hand. Manawa Honey NZ supported the programme with honey of course as well as sponsorship to help cover costs. The programme was a great success with evaluation ratings from the participants high to very high satisfaction! Manawa Honey will continue to support this initiative into the future.

The Roar in Te Urewera!!
May 03, 2018
Here in Ruatāhuna it’s been hard to keep all our staff focused on their work when they can hear the stags roaring in the mountains of Te Urewera! The red stags of this region gave us a great season in April 2018. This one was photographed by Puke Timoti (our researcher for the Tuawhenua Trust, founder of Manawa Honey) when he and his mate Phil Lyver, both keen hunters, went chasing stags during a break from work. Take a look at their video to hear how fearsome roaring stags can be. The Manawa Honey beekeepers also had some time off to chase stags. It all adds to the interest in working for Manawa Honey and our Tuawhenua Trust here in Ruatāhuna at the heart of Te Urewera!

Honey gifts for delivery to the whanau of Ruatāhuna
January 10, 2018
One of the reasons why we set up the Manawa Honey business in Ruatāhuna is because we know that honey is a super-food – magic for the health of our people – that we want to put into the homes and marae of our region. Now is a time for giving, so we have gifted honey this year to all our marae, whanau and staff as well as to some very special occasions.
We also set up the honey business so that we can create jobs. Here, we introduce our latest recruits – sisters Ngawahata Heemi and Manu Heemi – who have just finished decorating honey gifts ready for them to deliver to the whanau of Ruatāhuna
